Taxonomic evaluation of<i>Nymphoides</i>(<i>Menyanthaceae</i>) in eastern Asia

According to recent taxonomic treatments, up 13 Nymphoides species exist in eastern Asia, with some purported be narrowly endemic. However, these treatments have largely covered rather limited geographic areas, whereas the genus can found worldwide. Inorder evaluate global distinctness of currently accepted we quantitatively examined their distinguishing morphological characters using information from published and data herbarium specimens. Out evaluated species, nine were morphologically distinct ( N. aurantiaca , cambodiana coreana hastata hydrophylla indica lungtanensis parviflora peltata ), remaining coronata cristata siamensis tonkinensis ) lacked that clearly could distinguish them. We thus propose indistinct should considered synonymous other species. Herein establish comb. nov., accommodate was heretofore known by invalid name parvifolia .
