Tarsal coalition in the Turkish population: an MRI study

Objectives: Tarsal coalition describes a complete or partial union of two more tarsal bones. We aimed to determine the anatomical features in patients undergoing ankle magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and report prevalence Turkish population. Methods: A total 1075 MRI were evaluated with included study. Statistical analyses performed check whether there is correlation between presence age, gender side (right/left) identify talar beak sign accompanying edema cyst Results: detected 18 (a 21 ankles) (1.68%). Out these, seven females (1.32%) eleven males (2.04%). The mean age was 37.22±14.23 years. Three (0.28%) had bilateral coalition. Eight (0.56%) on right 13 (1.12%) left. osseous talocalcaneal 3 patients, non-osseous 6 calcaneonavicular 10 cuboid navicular 2 patients. Talar found 11 (52.38%) cysts bones forming Conclusion: determined be 1.68 % population common among men. Calcaneonavicular followed by are most types.
