چکیده
Antennae of five male butterflies namely Danaus chrysippus (Linnaeus) (Danaidae), Pontia daplidice moorie (Rober) (Pieridae), Junonia lemonias (Nymphalidae), Chilades pandava Horsfield (Lycaenidae) and Papilio demoleus Linnaeus (Papilionidae) have been studied under scanning electron microscope for observing the type number sensilla dispersed on their component segments i.e. Scape, Pedicel Flagellum. The antenna shows presence seven Böhm, trichodea, squamiformia, chaetica, basiconica, auricillica clavate. On other hand, show only first mentioned sensilla. However, possesses four whereas carries six sensilla, all from category indicated above. Structure location antennal surface has illustrated in detail.

Within insect species, olfactory signals play a vital role in communication, particularly in the context of mating. During courtship, males of many moth species release pheromones that function as aphrodisiacs for conspecific females, or repellants to competing conspecific males. The physiology and antennal lobe projections are described of olfactory receptor neurons within an antennal sensillu...

متن کاملAntennal transcriptome analysis of the piercing moth Oraesia emarginata (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae)
The piercing fruit moth Oraesia emarginata is an economically significant pest; however, our understanding of its olfactory mechanisms in infestation is limited. The present study conducted antennal transcriptome analysis of olfactory genes using real-time quantitative reverse transcription PCR analysis (RT-qPCR). We identified a total of 104 candidate chemosensory genes from several gene famil...
متن کاملSpatial Representation of Odours in the Antennal Lobe of the Moth Spodoptera littoialis (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae)
Glomeruli within the antennal lobe (AL) of moths are convergence sites for a large number of olfactory receptor neurons (ORNs). The ORNs target single glomeruli. In the male-specific cluster of glomeruli, the macroglomerular complex (MGC), the input is chemotypic in that each glomerulus of the MGC receives information about a specific component of the conspecific female sex pheromone. Little is...
