Universal Approximator Property of the Space of Hyperbolic Tangent Functions
In this paper, first the space of hyperbolic tangent functions is introduced and then the universal approximator property of this space is proved. In fact, by using this space, any nonlinear continuous function can be uniformly approximated with any degree of accuracy. Also, as an application, this space of functions is utilized to design feedback control for a nonlinear dynamical system.
متن کاملIntrinsic Characterizations of Tangent Spaces
Given a real Cx structure ionaC" manifold containing a point P, the tangent space Tp is exactly the linear space Ep of all linear maps A^>DR such that Dfg = iPf)Dg + iPg)Df for (/, g)£AXA, i.e., the space of P-derivations of A. However, if A is a C structure for r < °o then £p is much larger than Tp (see [2] and [3]). Our purpose is to introduce a coordinate-free characterization of Tp which is...
متن کاملRational Matrix Functions and Rank-1 Updates
Suppose f = p/q is a quotient of two polynomials and that p has degree rp and q has degree rq . Assume that f(A) and f(A+ uv ) are defined where A ∈ R, u ∈ R, and v ∈ R are given and set r = max{rp, rq}. We show how to compute f(A+uv ) in O(rn2) flops assuming that f(A) is available together with an appropriate factorization of the “denominator matrix” q(A). The central result can be interprete...
متن کاملTangent Spaces and Obstruction Theories
These are notes from my series of 8 lectures on tangent spaces and obstruction theories, which were part of a MSRI summer workshop on Deformation Theory and Moduli in Algebraic Geometry (July 23 – August 3, 2007). Nothing in these notes is original. For a list of references where this material (and much more!) can be found see the end of the notes. These are the (slightly cleaned up) notes prep...
متن کاملSome Classes of Rational Functions and Related Banach Spaces
Throughout this paper, d and r will be positive integers and 0 < δ < 1. These numbers will be arbitrary with the given properties unless they are further specified. For a matrix or vector X let X ′ denote its transpose. Thus if x = (x1, ..., xd) ′ ∈ R is a column vector and A is a d× d matrix, then x′Ax gives the quadratic form defined by the matrix A, ∑n i,j=1 Aijxixj . Let Pd denote the set o...
