Taking residual stresses into account in low-cycle fatigue design using the adjustable localisation operator method

This paper assesses the ability of Adjustable Localisation Operator (ALO) method to predict influence residual stresses on fatigue behaviour notched components. Different initial stress states are introduced into specimens, which then tested under cyclic loadings in a range 103 105 cycles. Experimental comparisons with initially stress-free specimens have shown how tensile reduce life repeated compressive loading while increase loading. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and ALO predictions changes compared experimental measurements beforehand assess predictions. A modified version Morrow’s criterion is used account for mean effect. Results that can low-cycle same accuracy as finite element analysis significant reduction computation time.
