Tailoring spatiotemporal dynamics of plasmonic vortices

Plasmonic vortices confining orbital angular momentums to surface have aroused wide research interest in the last decade. Recent advances of near-field microscopes enabled study on spatiotemporal dynamics plasmonic vortices, providing a better understanding optical evanescent wave regime. However, these works only focused objective characterization vortex and not achieved subjectively tailoring its for specific applications. Herein, it is demonstrated that with same topological charge can be endowed distinct by simply changing coupler design. Based scanning terahertz microscopy, plasmon fields are directly obtained ultrahigh resolution, experimentally exhibiting generation evolution divergences during whole lifetime vortices. The proposed strategy straightforward universal, which readily applied into visible or infrared frequencies, facilitating development related researches
