Tailoring circulation type classification outcomes

چکیده

Efforts to intercompare many existing circulation type classification (CTC) methods have found no consistency in their outcomes. Therefore, when confronted with a task classify atmospheric types, it is difficult find clear guidelines. This study explores the ways of increasing between and obtaining physically meaningful practically useful results. By applying range CTC sea-level pressure fields over Scandinavian domain, shown that using same similarity measure (pattern correlation (CORR) or Euclidean distance (DIST)) higher consistency. It further outcomes can be tailored towards specific user requirements by properly manipulating input data. Using unprocessed data DIST-based frequently results classes containing inconsistent members because procedure obfuscated circulation-irrelevant information spatially standardized leads considerably improved agreement CORR-based brings high physical within individual classes. However, standardizing removes too much circulation-relevant improvement partitioning dependent variables such as precipitation. Best performance achieved spatial mean removed. simple focuses use only hence both consistent optimally performing variables. Consequently, recommended guideline would spatial-mean-removed generally most effective approach.

Focusing on outcomes in Circulation: Cardiovascular Quality and Outcomes.

Outcomes research is distinct in its focus on the patient’s experience. Ideally, our research should illuminate key determinants of successful prevention, diagnosis, or treatment of disease, with an emphasis on outcomes that patients will recognize as important. Some of the studies in our pages, however, use biomarkers or surrogate end points. These measures reflect biological processes that ar...
