Tadpoles and gauge symmetries

چکیده
A bstract The tadpole conjecture proposes that complex structure moduli stabilisation by fluxes have low charge can be realised only at special points in space, leading generically to (large) gauge symmetries. Here we provide an exhaustive survey of the symmetries arising F-theory flux compactifications on products attractive K3 surfaces, with fully stabilised. We compute minimal rank left-over non-abelian group for all configurations within bound, finding it is always non-zero. It decreases a roughly linear fashion charge, reaching zero 30. By working out possible algebras different values tadpole, find simple ADE Lie ≤ 18 appear.

Higgs-gauge unification without tadpoles
In orbifold gauge theories localized tadpoles can be radiatively generated at the fixed points where U(1) subgroups are conserved. If the Standard Model Higgs fields are identified with internal components of the bulk gauge fields (Higgs-gauge unification) in the presence of these tadpoles the Higgs mass becomes sensitive to the UV cutoff and electroweak symmetry breaking is spoiled. We find th...
متن کاملQuantum and Classical Gauge Symmetries
The use of the mass term of the gauge field as a gauge fixing term, which was discussed by Zwanziger, Parrinello and Jona-Lasinio in a large mass limit, is related to the non-linear gauge by Dirac and Nambu. We have recently shown that this use of the mass term as a gauge fixing term is in fact identical to the conventional local Faddeev-Popov formula without taking a large mass limit, if one t...
متن کاملGauge Symmetries, Topology and Quantisation
The following two loosely connected sets of topics are reviewed in these lecture notes: 1) Gauge invariance, its treatment in field theories and its implications for internal symmetries and edge states such as those in the quantum Hall effect. 2) Quantisation on multiply connected spaces and a topological proof the spin-statistics theorem which avoids quantum field theory and relativity. Under ...
متن کاملEnlarged NH symmetries: Particle Dynamics and Gauge Symmetries
We show how the Newton-Hooke (NH) symmetries, representing a nonrelativistic version of de-Sitter symmetries, can be enlarged by a pair of translation vectors describing in Galilean limit the class of accelerations linear in time. We study the Cartan-Maurer one-forms corresponding to such enlarged NH symmetry group and by using cohomological methods we determine the general 2-parameter (in D = ...
متن کامل0 Hamiltonian structure and gauge symmetries of Poincaré gauge theory ∗
This is a review of the constrained dynamical structure of Poincaré gauge theory which concentrates on the basic canonical and gauge properties of the theory, including the identification of constraints, gauge symmetries and conservation laws. As an interesting example of the general approach we discuss the teleparallel formulation of general relativity.
