Systematic Literature Mapping of User Story Research

User stories are a widely used artifact in Agile software development. Currently, only limited number of secondary studies have reviewed the research on user story technique. These reviews focused specific topics related to ambiguity requirements, effort estimation, and application Natural Language Processing. To our knowledge, systematic mapping all has not been performed. this end, we study academic literature investigate what performed, types problems identified, sort solutions or other outcomes achieved, how mature is, gaps exist. We followed Systematic Mapping Study guidelines synthesize currently available stories. In total, found 186 unique peer-reviewed studies, published period 2001-2021. observed that technique its use had grown exponentially over last seven years. Further, using five-dimensional classification framework– requirements engineering activity, problem class, outcome type research, publication– several patterns these across different framework dimensions, which provided insights into state-of-the-art maturity research. also identified four gaps: paucity reviews; lack role play human cognition interaction; comprehensive for resolving issues with early project; validation evaluation proposed solutions. Several opportunities suggested, making paper useful reference future allowing researchers clearly position their contributions.
