چکیده
Abstract Background Population suppression gene drive has been proposed as a strategy for malaria vector control. A CRISPR-Cas9-based transgene homing at the doublesex locus ( dsxF CRISPRh ) recently shown to increase rapidly in frequency in, and suppress, caged laboratory populations of mosquito Anopheles gambiae . Here, problem formulation, an initial step environmental risk assessment (ERA), was performed simulated field releases West Africa. Methods Building on consultative workshops Africa that previously identified relevant health protection goals ERA control, 8 potentially harmful effects from these were identified. These stratified into 46 plausible pathways describing causal chain events would be required potential harms occur. Risk hypotheses interrogate critical steps each pathway, analysis plan involving experiments, modelling literature review test those hypotheses, developed. Results Most involved increased human (n = 13) or animal disease transmission, emphasizing importance subsequent stages data vectorial capacity comparing transgenics non-transgenics. Although some 14) based known anatomical alterations homozygotes, many could also applicable range other transgenic strains 18). In addition population target organisms being accepted outcome existing control programmes, investigations revealed efficacy caused by should itself directly affect most 35). Conclusions Modelling will play essential role clarifying dynamics this relationship between reduction exposure specific harms. This represents comprehensive identification harm using formulation organism, transparent communication tool inform future regulatory studies, guide ERA, stimulate further, broader engagement use vectors

Gene flow among populations of the malaria vector, Anopheles gambiae, in Mali, West Africa.
The population structure of the Anopheles gambiae complex is unusual, with several sibling species often occupying a single area and, in one of these species, An. gambiae sensu stricto, as many as three "chromosomal forms" occurring together. The chromosomal forms are thought to be intermediate between populations and species, distinguishable by patterns of chromosome gene arrangements. The ext...

15 صفحه اولContributions of Anopheles larval control to malaria suppression in tropical Africa: review of achievements and potential.
Malaria vector control targeting the larval stages of mosquitoes was applied successfully against many species of Anopheles (Diptera: Culicidae) in malarious countries until the mid-20th Century. Since the introduction of DDT in the 1940s and the associated development of indoor residual spraying (IRS), which usually has a more powerful impact than larval control on vectorial capacity, the focu...
متن کاملa frame semantic approach to the study of translating cultural scripts in salingers franny and zooey
the frame semantic theory is a nascent approach in the area of translation studies which goes beyond the linguistic barriers and helps us to incorporate cognitive and cultural factors to the study of translation. based on rojos analytical model (2002b), which centered in the frames or knowledge structures activated in the text, the present research explores the various translation problems that...
