System Response of an Interlayered Deposit with Spatially Preferential Liquefaction Manifestations

چکیده
The Canterbury Earthquake Sequence produced a spatial pattern of liquefaction-induced surface ejecta at an open field along Palinurus Road in Christchurch, New Zealand, that would not be expected based on simplified liquefaction evaluation procedures. Half the site discharged sand boils and other half did not. Two-dimensional fully-coupled nonlinear dynamic analyses (NDAs) were performed to examine why one-dimensional vulnerability indices (LVIs) overestimated manifestations this for 2010 Darfield 2011 Christchurch earthquakes distinguish between areas with without ejecta. NDAs use PM4Sand PM4Silt constitutive models sand-like clay-like portions subsurface, respectively, within Fast Lagrangian Analysis Continua (FLAC) finite-difference program. Material parameters are obtained from situ geophysical cone penetration test (CPT) data. A sensitivity study is assess influence (1) representative soil property selections CPT inverse filtering procedure correct thin-layer transition zone effects, (2) ground motions developed by two distinct methods (i.e., recordings physics-based simulations), (3) model assumptions affecting diffusion during reconsolidation. Ground deformations flow patterns after shaking examined. results provide insights how stratigraphic details factors can affect system response dictate degree extent manifestations.

Background and Aim: Neurofibromatosis-1(NF-1) is a common genetic condition in children. It is becoming increasingly recognized that in neurofibromatosis, there might be anomalous development of bone with or without any local anomaly of neuro-ectodermal basis. This review was conducted to highlight the different features of spinal disorders in this congenital disease. Methods and Materials: Di...
متن کاملDoes Deposit Insurance Increase Banking System Stability? An Empirical Investigation
Based on evidence for 61 countries in 1980-97, this study finds that explicit deposit insurance tends to increase the likelihood of banking crises, the more so where bank interest rates are deregulated and the institutional environment is weak. Also, the adverse impact of deposit insurance on bank stability tends to be stronger the more extensive is the coverage offered to depositors, where the...
متن کاملAn Improved Method for Seismic Site Characterization with Emphasis on Liquefaction Phenomenon
Iran is an active seismic region. Earthquake damage is commonly controlled by three interacting factors including source and path characteristics, local geological and geotechnical conditions and type of the structures. Obviously, all of this would require analysis and presentation of a large amount of geological, seismological and geotechnical data. In this paper, nonlinear geotechnical seismi...
