Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of Pentacyclic Strychnos Alkaloids as Selective Modulators of the ABCC10 (MRP7) Efflux Pump
The selective modulation of ATP-binding cassette (ABC) efflux pumps overexpressed in multidrug resistant cancers (MDR) and attendant resensitization to chemotherapeutic agents represent a promising strategy for treating cancer. We have synthesized four novel pentacyclic Strychnos alkaloids alstolucines B (2), F (3), and A (5) and N-demethylalstogucine (4), in addition to known Strychnos alkaloi...
متن کاملLeucoridines A-D, cytotoxic Strychnos-Strychnos bisindole alkaloids from Leuconotis.
Four new bisindole alkaloids of the Strychnos-Strychnos type, leucoridines A-D (1-4), were isolated from the stem-bark extract of Leuconotis griffithii. Alkaloids 1-4 showed moderate cytotoxicity against drug-sensitive and vincristine-resistant human KB cells.
متن کاملfrom linguistics to literature: a linguistic approach to the study of linguistic deviations in the turkish divan of shahriar
chapter i provides an overview of structural linguistics and touches upon the saussurean dichotomies with the final goal of exploring their relevance to the stylistic studies of literature. to provide evidence for the singificance of the study, chapter ii deals with the controversial issue of linguistics and literature, and presents opposing views which, at the same time, have been central to t...

Strychnos usambarensis Gilg (Loganiaceae) is one of thé three most widely distributed African species of Strychnos L. In East and South Africa thé plant grows as a small tree 3-15 m in height. In several other localities in East Africa, as well as in Zaïre, Congo, and West Africa, it is found as a climber up to 70 m long (1). The only other morphological différence between thé two forms is thé ...
متن کاملSynthesis and evaluation of Strychnos alkaloids as MDR reversal agents for cancer cell eradication.
Natural products represent the fourth generation of multidrug resistance (MDR) reversal agents that resensitize MDR cancer cells overexpressing P-glycoprotein (Pgp) to cytotoxic agents. We have developed an effective synthetic route to prepare various Strychnos alkaloids and their derivatives. Molecular modeling of these alkaloids docked to a homology model of Pgp was employed to optimize ligan...
