Synthesis and characterization of Fe3O4-NH2 and Fe3O4-NH2-chitosan nanoparticles

Fe3O4 nanoparticles were synthesized and functionalized with (3-aminopropyl) trimethoxysilane (APTMS) chitosan, forming Fe3O4-NH2 Fe3O4-NH2-chitosan nanoparticles. The by a co-precipitation method functionalization was performed in further stages. characterized X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), zeta potential, transmission electron microscopy (TEM). results of XRD showed that magnetite did not experience an oxidation reaction. the surface confirmed FTIR potential measurements. TEM thin layer around due to APTMS. later chitosan contributed agglomeration Functionalization provided better colloidal stability mainly for pH below 7 this improvement related protection new functional groups from APTMS chitosan.
