Synchrotron X-ray Irradiation of a Rat’s Head Model: Monte Carlo Study of Chromatic Gel Dosimetry

Accurate treatment planning in radiotherapy essentially decreases damage to healthy tissue surrounding the tumor. Due plans use a direct, highly collimated, narrow beam with high intensity treat small area tumors, researchers have studied microbeam radiation therapy extensively. Using synchrotron as source may help limit damage, but using computerized simulations and dosimetry is still necessary achieve optimal results. For this purpose, PDA-gel dosimeters were developed their sensitivity around 150 keV induced X-ray was examined via Monte Carlo EGS5 code system. The development now at animal study stage. In study, we simulate irradiation of rat’s brain. simulation results obtained spectra for two types that compared spectrum modelized brain tumor rat. Additionally, percentage depth dose curves calculated gels. Correction equations from dose-difference plots. further references, these can be used calculate actual demonstrate irradiations.
