Synchronous Remote Rendering for VR

Remote rendering for VR is a technology that enables high-quality on low-powered devices. This realized by offloading heavy computation and to high-powered servers stream as video the clients. article focuses one specific issue in remote when imperfect frame timing between client server may cause recurring drops. We propose system design executes synchronously eliminates aforementioned problem. The presented, an implementation tested using various networks hardware. cannot drop frames due synchronization issues but other hand stall if temporal disturbances occur, e.g., network delay spikes or loss. However, experiments confirm such events can remain rare given appropriate environment. For example, intranet at 90 fps with located approximately 50 km away yielded just 0.002% stalled while extra latency corresponding duration of exactly (11.1 ms fps). In LAN without setting, i.e., equal locally rendered VR, 0.009% stalls were observed wired Ethernet connection 0.058% 5 GHz wireless IEEE 802.11 ac.
