Sustainable food production through integrated rice-fish farming in India: a brief review

Abstract The exponential increase in population and economic activities has led to the intensification of agriculture aquaculture developing countries. Green Revolution 1960s Blue 1980s were giant steps this direction meet food demand burgeoning population. It resulted increased use modern technology for India. However, coping with ever-increasing adversely impacted our environment. Hence, it is imperative that we explore sustainable practices enable us produce more without compromising environmental integrity human health. Integrated rice-fish farming one such solution optimizes resources, maintains conditions provides socio-economic stability farmers. This review summarizes various integrated cultivation systems practiced India including traditional practices, their importance, recent development area existing challenges.
