چکیده

Grape berry moth is a major pest of vineyards across eastern North America. Increasing infestations in Michigan commercial under active management have raised concerns about insecticide resistance this species. We tested the susceptibility male moths from 5 southwestern over 2 years using range concentrations, followed by probit analysis resulting mortality data. In 2021 and 2022, topical applications phosmet zeta-cypermethrin were applied to collected each vineyard, LC50, LC90 LC99 values calculated for population. The LC50 similar among sites, whereas highly variable years, with sensitivity 2.78 times higher 2022 than at Farm 61.66-fold 3. Sensitivity was generally between level, but it LC99, two sites showing lower compared three farms an increased 2022. response carbaryl 3 both years. However, 2.34, 6.33 14.29-fold, respectively, those 5. conclusion, our results show that insecticides grape populations southwest different These highlight need continued monitoring species, development implementation alternative control strategies maintain insecticides.

Stage-specific control of grape berry moth, Endopiza viteana (Clemens) (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae), by selective and broad-spectrum insecticides.

The insect growth regulators (IGRs) tebufenozide and methoxyfenozide and the broad-spectrum insecticides azinphosmethyl, carbaryl, and fenpropathrin were compared for their activity against adult, egg, and larval stages of the grape berry moth, Endopiza viteana (Clemens) (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae), under laboratory and vineyard conditions. Adult mortality was not affected by exposure to field-e...

Reduced-risk insecticides for control of grape berry moth (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae) and conservation of natural enemies.

A 3-yr field study was conducted at commercial grape (Vitis spp.) farms to evaluate insect management programs for control of the grape berry moth, Paralobesia viteana Clemens (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae) and conservation of natural enemies. At each farm, one vineyard received only reduced-risk insecticides for control of second and third generation P. viteana, whereas the comparison vineyard rec...

Control of grape berry moth (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae) in relation to oviposition phenology.

We monitored the phenology of oviposition by grape berry moth, Paralobesia viteana (Clemens) (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae), in grape (Vitis spp.) vineyards, to determine the optimal timing for control of this pest. Egg deposition was monitored throughout the growing season by visually inspecting grape clusters twice weekly and counting the number of eggs. Male moths were captured on pheromone-bait...

Spatially Targeted Applications of Reduced-Risk Insecticides for Economical Control of Grape Berry Moth, Paralobesia viteana (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae).

The grape berry moth, Paralobesia viteana Clemens (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae), is a key economic pest of vineyards in eastern North America, and prevention of fruit infestation is particularly challenging along vineyard borders that are adjacent to wooded areas containing wild grape (Vitis spp.). For three years, infestation and damage in vineyards where reduced-risk insecticides were applied to...

Geographic variation in diapause induction: the grape berry moth (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae).

Diapause in insects occurs in response to environmental cues, such as changes in photoperiod, and it is a major adaptation by which insects synchronize their activity with biotic resources and environmental constraints. For multivoltine agricultural insect pests, diapause initiation is an important consideration in management decisions, particularly toward the end of the growing season. The gra...
