چکیده
The present work aimed to improve the surface integrity of selective laser melting manufacturing (SLM) manufactured 10 mm sized meso gears using unconventional Laser Peening without Coating (LPwC) technique. To accomplish LPwC on low energy in range 200 mJ 1000 at Hz were applied underwater gear root and fillet gap generating significant compressive residual stresses (from +73 MPa −298 MPa). Besides surface, stresses, average roughness (Ra), arithmetical mean height (Sa) parameters material ratio curve also considered as a part study. Notable improvement was achieved Sa, it improved over 50 % while considerable Ra has been observed. Scanning electron microscopy confirmed that void porosity seen unpeened filled. backscatter diffraction analysis confirms grain refinement region up 100 μm depth. It observed multifold dislocation occurs within grain, generates sub-grain. sub-grain formation substantially inhibits further nucleation crack propagation owing an increase boundary density. Such justifies set objectives, outcome this research will pave foundation overall performance micro/meso parts process.

متن کاملSystematical Characterization of Material Response to Microscale Laser Shock Peening
The response of materials after microscale laser shock peening (mLSP) was experimentally characterized and compared with the theoretical prediction from FEM analysis in microlength level. Since mLSP is predominantly a mechanical process instead of a thermal process, the characterization focuses on mechanical properties and associated microstructures. An X-ray microdiffraction technique was appl...
متن کاملCharacterization of Plastic Deformation Induced by Microscale Laser Shock Peening
Electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) is used to investigate crystal lattice rotation caused by plastic deformation during high-strain rate laser shock peening in single crystal aluminum and copper sample on ~11̄0! and (001) surfaces. New experimental methodologies are employed which enable measurement of the in-plane lattice rotation under approximate plane-strain conditions. Crystal lattice ...
متن کاملMassive parallel laser shock peening: Simulation, analysis, and validation
Laser shock peening (LSP) is a transient process with laser pulse duration time on the order of 10 ns, real time in situ measurement of laser/material interaction is very challenging. LSP is usually performed in a massively parallel mode to induce uniform compressive residual stress across the entire surface of the workpiece. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effects of parallel m...

Theoretical and experimental investigation of wear during coupling in internal gears coated with various polymeric coating materials was performed in this study. In the theoretical part of the study, Archards’ wear formulation was adapted to internal gears and wear behavior in various conditions was determined. Moreover, a fatigue and wear testing apparatus having similar working principle with...
