Surface form analysis on complex freeform organic structures – measuring erosive wear on human teeth in vitro

چکیده

Abstract Natural human enamel (NHE) is a complex freeform surface which has presented significant difficulties in measuring form change using non-contacting laser profilometry (NCLP). Measuring on NHE metrology proxy for dental tooth structure loss, and characterising this non-ISO parameters (volume, area, normalised lesion depth) been seldom studied due complexity undetermined measurement errors. This study determines NCLP errors (instrument repeatability method reproducibility) parameters, characterises following dietary pH-cycling model. (n = 1) was scanned consecutively twenty-times with/without sample replacement producing consecutive profile data. Residual data created after subtracting filtered (80 ? m, Gaussian filter), mean (SD) volume, depth determined within 1.5 mm circular region of interest (ROI). Volume error (expressed as height variation across ROI area) 0.022 m repeatability) 0.149 (method reproducibility), whilst area percentage the deviation entire 0.034% (repeatability error) 0.081% (reproducibility error). Sixty-four natural surfaces taped with polyvinyl-chloride tape leaving exposed underwent erosion cycling (three 5-min cycles, 0.3% citric acid w/v, pH 3.2) generating artificial lesions. Samples were before/after each cycle, scans microtexture, after-erosion subtracted from before-erosion scans. results show depth, 3D step-height eroded increased significantly no difference calcium phosphate release cycle. We demonstrate robust valid model analysis workflow to measure NCLP, improving understanding surfaces.

Does erosion progress differently on teeth already presenting clinical signs of erosive tooth wear than on sound teeth? An in vitro pilot trial

BACKGROUND Erosive tooth wear (ETW) is clinically characterized by a loss of tooth surface, and different enamel depths may have different susceptibility to demineralization. Therefore, the aim of this in vitro pilot study was to assess if the progression of erosive demineralization is faster on teeth already presenting signs of ETW when compared to originally sound teeth. METHODS We selected...

Microtomography evaluation of dental tissue wear surface induced by in vitro simulated chewing cycles on human and composite teeth.

In this study a 3D microtomography display of tooth surfaces after in vitro dental wear tests has been obtained. Natural teeth have been compared with prosthetic teeth, manufactured by three different polyceramic composite materials. The prosthetic dental element samples, similar to molars, have been placed in opposition to human teeth extracted by paradontology diseases. After microtomograp...

Solid Freeform Fabrication of Artificial Human Teeth

In this paper, we describe a solid freeform fabrication procedure for human dental restoration via porcelain slurry micro-extrusion. Based on submicron-sized dental porcelain powder obtained via ball milling process, a porcelain slurry formulation has been developed. The formulation developed allows the porcelain slurry to show a pseudoplastic behavior and moderate viscosity, which permits the ...

the effect analysis of proficiency on language - switching in iranian efl learners writing

abstract in a protocol analysis of second language writing from 20 adult english as a foreign language (efl) iranian students, this research observed how language-switching (l-s), i.e., first language use in l2 writing, was affected by l2 proficiency. switching interactively between first (l1) and second (l2) languages has been recognized as one of the salient characteristics of l2 writing....

Saliva parameters and erosive wear in adolescents.

The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between several parameters of saliva and erosive wear in adolescents. (Un-)stimulated saliva was collected from 88 adolescents with erosion and 49 controls (age 16 ± 1 years). Flow rate, pH and buffer capacity were determined immediately. Total protein content, carbonic anhydrase VI, amylase, albumin, calcium, phosphate, urea, sodium, ch...
