چکیده

We consider frequency fluctuations in self-sustained oscillators based on nonlinear underdamped resonators. An important type of such resonators are nano- and micro-electro-mechanical systems. Various noise sources considered, with the emphasis fundamentally unavoidable that comes along dissipation from coupling to a thermal reservoir. The formulation terms action-angle variables resonator allows us study deeply regime. In this regime vibration as function action can have an extremum. show be strongly reduced by choosing operation point at suggest practical implementation nanoresonator has appropriate property explicit results for corresponding model.

Extraction of Nonlinear Thermo-Electroelastic Equations for High Frequency Vibrations of Piezoelectric Resonators with Initial Static Biases

In this paper, the general case of an anisotropic thermo-electro elastic body subjected to static biasing fields is considered. The biasing fields may be introduced by heat flux, body forces, external surface tractions, and electric fields. By introducing proper thermodynamic functions and employing variational principle for a thermo-electro elastic body, the nonlinear constitutive relations an...

Growth dynamics of noise-sustained structures in nonlinear optical resonators.

The existence of macroscopic noise-sustained structures in nonlinear optics is theoretically predicted and numerically observed, in the regime of convective instability. The advection-like term, necessary to turn the instability to convective for the parameter region where advection overwhelms the growth, can stem from pump beam tilting or birefringence induced walk-off. The growth dynamics of ...

Coherent Exciton Dynamics in the Presence of Underdamped Vibrations.

Recent ultrafast optical experiments show that excitons in large biological light-harvesting complexes are coupled to molecular vibration modes. These high-frequency vibrations will not only affect the optical response, but also drive the exciton transport. Here, using a model dimer system, the frequency of the underdamped vibration is shown to have a strong effect on the exciton dynamics such ...

Force detection and frequency fluctuations in carbon nanotube mechanical resonators

Carbon nanotubes allow studying a broad range of phenomena, from many-electron transport in onedimensional systems to nonlinear dynamics and fluctuations of bending modes. They also provide unique tools for mass and charge measurements with unprecedented sensitivity [1,2]. Another important new application is force measurement. I will present our recent force sensing experiments in which our na...

Novel self-sustained modulation in superconducting stripline resonators

We study thermal instability in a driven superconducting NbN stripline resonator integrated with a microbridge. A monochromatic input drive is injected into the resonator and the response is measured as a function of the frequency and amplitude of the drive. Inside a certain zone of the frequency-amplitude plane the system has no steady state, and consequently selfsustained modulation of the re...
