Suppressing Diffraction-Related Intensity Losses in Transmissive Single-Crystal X-ray Optics

چکیده
The highest-quality X-ray optics can be made of single-crystal materials such as silicon, germanium, or, even better, diamond. Unfortunately, have one drawback: diffraction losses or the “glitch effect”. This effect manifests itself follows: at some energies X-rays, intensity transmitted beam drops due to fact that crystalline planes satisfied condition. Diffraction are usually observed in spectroscopic experiments when energy X-rays changes a certain range. However, this might also influence any experiment using especially higher energies. In paper, we propose method overcome glitch problem transmissive optics. is achieved small rotations optical element. We describe algorithm for “glitch-free” measurements detail and theory behind it.

متن کاملCrystal optics as guard apertures for coherent x-ray diffraction imaging.
A crucial issue in coherent x-ray diffraction imaging experiments is how to increase the signal-to-noise ratio when measuring relatively weak diffraction intensities from a nonperiodic object. A novel crystal guard aperture is described that makes use of a pair of multiple-bounce crystal optics to eliminate unwanted parasitic scattering background. This background is often produced by upstream ...
متن کاملCrystal chemistry of HgBa2CaCu208+ and HgBa2Ca2Cu308+ Single-crystal X-ray diffraction results
Crystal structures of HgBa2CaCu206 + ~ (Hg1212 ) and HgBa2Ca2Cu308 + a (Hg1223 ) have been determined on single crystals at room temperature conditions by X-ray diffraction techniques. Both tetragonal specimens are isomorphous with compounds in the T1-Ba-Ca-Cu-O system. We observe excess oxygen in both samples on two sites near the z=0 plane: at (1⁄200) and close to (1⁄2, 0.4, 0) but no oxygen ...

The crystal structure of the β-polymorph of ZnMoO4 was re-determined on the basis of single-crystal X-ray diffraction data. In comparison with previous powder X-ray diffraction studies [Katikaneani & Arunachalam (2005 ▸). Eur. J. Inorg. Chem. pp. 3080-3087; Cavalcante et al. (2013 ▸). Polyhedron, 54, 13-25], all atoms were refined with anisotropic displacement parameters, leading to a higher pr...
متن کاملComparison of focusing optics for femtosecond X-ray diffraction
We characterize and compare four different types of focusing optics for hard X-rays, suitable for femtosecond X-ray diffraction experiments, using a tabletop femtosecond laser-based plasma source. We demonstrate a 23μm focus with a toroidally bent Ge single crystal. A maximum flux of 7 × 108 photons/(s mm2) is generated in a 32μm focus using a multi-layer mirror. An elliptical glass capillary y...
