Supporting The STEM Aspirations of Youth Who Have Been Pushed Out

A lack of diversity permeates the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) field. Under-representation within STEM fields can stifle innovation progressive approaches to future STEM. Traditional pathways focus on identifying participants who show academic promise in schools. One segment young people, youth have been ‘pushed out’ high schools, often excluded from pathways. Alternative education programs potential support pushed out, re-engage The purpose this study was understand what factors contributed aspirations students at Xinaxtli Charter School (XCS), an alternative program for Southern California. This quantitative utilized Structural Equation Modeling analyze a conceptual model XCS.
