Supplementing Yogurt with Probiotic Bifidobacteria to Counter Chronic Kidney Disease
نویسندگان
چکیده
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) disproportionately affects populations in developing countries. In sub-Saharan Africa, CKD prevalence is high (12–23%) and associated with cardiovascular manifestations. Uremic toxins, especially p-cresol p-cresyl sulfate, are the disease. Reducing uremic toxins body slows progression improves patient outcomes. Probiotic Bifidobacterium breve HRVD521-US, B. animalis HRVD524-US, longum SD-BB536-JP, SD-CECT7347-SP internalize improve longevity vivo. 2002, Tanzanian communities were taught to produce probiotic yogurt (Fiti®) supplemented Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus GR-1. This has expanded over 100 community producers across country. To that could reduce burden of by sequestering we decided test addition p-cresol-clearing bifidobacterial strains. By repeating Fiti® production process performed adding a strain, found they successfully incorporated into without any detrimental effect on sensory properties or viable counts. Three four strains significantly reduced when added simulated colonic environment. conclusion, this study shown sachets provided can be potentially confer additional health benefits.

Association between probiotic and yogurt consumption and kidney disease: insights from NHANES.
BACKGROUND Data from experimental animals suggest that probiotic supplements may retard CKD progression. However, the relationship between probiotic use, frequent yogurt consumption (as a natural probiotic source), and kidney parameters have not been evaluated in humans. FINDINGS We utilized NHANES data, and analyzed the association of probiotic alone (1999-2012) and yogurt/probiotic (2003-20...
