Subverting the Binary Oppositions concerning Female Agency in Alameddine’s An Unnecessary Woman

چکیده
This study explores woman’s agency in Alameddine’s fiction, An Unnecessary Woman (2013) concerning the normative state of a communal structure that controls women’s behaviors and wishes set by suppression. The current uses deconstruction theory French post-structuralists Jacques Derrida Hélène Cixous, taken from feminist perspective, which undermines gender dichotomies interrupts “the unquestionable truth” Western philosophy. In short, Rabih fiction reveals misconceptions about – misrepresentations Arab women contemporary American disrupts binary opposition resembles backbone patriarchy.
