We compared outcomes these two methods an initial for ranula investigated salvage procedure in recurred patients.Subjects Method Patients were classified into group (n=35) (n=39) according to type their The determined recurrence or non-recurrence at 3 months after treatment, statistically between groups. Results Recurrence sclerothearpy (n=20, 51.3%) showed a significantly higher rate (p<0.001) than (n=3, 8.6%). Oral and plunging ranulas: What is the most effective treatment?
OBJECTIVES/HYPOTHESIS Preferred treatment of oral/plunging ranulas remains controversial. We present our experience with ranulas at the University of North Carolina (UNC) and review the literature. METHODS Retrospective review. From 1990 to 2007, 16 oral ranulas and 10 plunging ranulas were treated at UNC. Combining the UNC series with the literature identified 864 cases for review. An online...
متن کاملRecurrent plunging ranula of the neck.
The reported case describes a mismanaged extensive recurrent plunging ranula that occupied a large portion of the neck. The ranula is usually clinically diagnosed. However, absence of visible intra-oral signs may mislead the diagnosis and leads to improper surgical management. Presence of amylase in the aspirated fluids is an important aid in the differential diagnosis. Thereby confirming the s...

متن کاملConservative treatment of oral ranula by excision with minimal excision of the sublingual gland: histological support for a traumatic etiology.
PURPOSE This study investigates, clinically and histologically, a new conservative technique for the treatment of oral ranula based on the premise that a discrete unit of the sublingual gland feeds the ranula, which can therefore be treated by local removal with the attached part of the sublingual gland. PATIENTS AND METHODS The study group consisted of 8 patients with ranula treated by decom...
