Subclinical atherosclerosis of the carotid arteries in patients with rheumatoid arthritis with low cardiovascular risk

چکیده
Aim. To evaluate the detection rate of subclinical carotid atherosclerosis in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients with low cardiovascular risk (CVR).
Materials and methods. The study included 182 RA CVR (mSCORE1%) no established diseases a control group comprising 100 people. Atherosclerotic lesion arteries was assessed using Doppler ultrasound determined by atherosclerotic plaque (ASP) local increase thickness intima-media complex (IMT) 1.5 mm.
Results. Carotid ASP were observed more frequently than (17% versus 8%; p=0.02). frequency did not depend on stage or activity ongoing therapy. In RA, associated traditional factors: detected 4 times often men women (48% 12%, p0.01); IMT correlated age (R=0.46), body mass index (R=0.17), LDL-C level (R=0.20), systolic blood pressure (R=0.17); p0.05 all cases. According to multivariate model, developing increased presence dyslipidemia (odds ratio OR 2.97; 95% confidence interval CI 1.366.49; p=0.006) arterial hypertension (OR 2.16; 1.034.54; p=0.04). ASP, sCD40L (R=0.32; p=0.04) cholesterol concentration (R=0.39; p=0.01).
Conclusion. Subclinical lesions 24% almost 2 group. CVR, 23 concomitant dyslipidemia. factors age, gender, lipid levels indicators, cases an immunoinflammatory marker sCD40L.

Subclinical atherosclerosis in patients with rheumatoid arthritis
We performed a systematic review with meta-analysis and meta-regression of literature studies evaluating the impact of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) on common carotid artery intima-media thickness (CCAIMT) and on the prevalence of carotid plaques. Studies evaluating the relationship between RA and markers of cardiovascular (CV) risk (CCA-IMT and prevalence of carotid plaques) were systematically se...
متن کاملSubclinical Atherosclerosis in Patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis and Low Cardiovascular Risk: The Role of von Willebrand Factor Activity
BACKGROUND To evaluate association between von Willebrand factor (vWF) activity, inflammation markers, disease activity, and subclinical atherosclerosis in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and low cardiovascular risk. METHODS Above mentioned parameters were determined in blood samples of 74 non-diabetic, normotensive, female subjects, with no dyslipidemia(42 patients, 32 matched health...

OBJECTIVE To determine whether an association exists between the presence of rheumatoid nodules and thickening of the intima-media and plaque of the carotid artery, which is evidence of atherosclerosis. MATERIALS AND METHODS Observational, cross-sectional study of 124 patients with rheumatoid arthritis from a University Hospital clinic from 2005 to 2006. We divided the patients into 2 groups,...

OBJECTIVE To examine the prevalence of subclinical atherosclerosis in patients with psoriatic arthritis (PsA) compared with healthy controls, and to identify clinical and biologic markers for atherosclerotic disease in this patient population. METHODS Subclinical atherosclerosis was defined as the average of intima-media thickness (IMT) measures in the common carotid artery, bifurcation, and ...
متن کاملSubclinical atherosclerosis and history of cardiovascular events in Italian patients with rheumatoid arthritis
Several studies have pointed out a significant association between rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and accelerated atherosclerosis. At the best of our knowledge, no such study has been carried out in a large Italian series and, in this study, we aimed to investigate the prevalence of both subclinical atherosclerosis and history of cardiovascular events (CVEs), in patients consecutively admitted from ...
