Subclavian vein catheterization: Comparative evaluation of supraclavicular versus infraclavicular approach in oncology patients

چکیده
The subclavian vein is the preferred site for central venous catheter insertion because of its several advantages. Infraclavicular commonly used approach while supraclavicular less popular catheterizing vein. aim study was to compare and infraclavicular catheterization in terms number attempts, success rate, access time record complications associated with procedure. In this study, 120 patients inclusion criteria were placed either group (SC) or (IC) using modified Seldinger technique under general local anaesthesia. Chi square test rate independent T between two groups. First attempt SC 81.66% IC 66.66%. But overall 93.33% SC, whereas it 90% IC. This not statistically significant p value 0.5. Time taken successful 252.98 ± 76.27 seconds 314.98 121.28 0.001. Right brachiocephalic tear only complication entire which occurred Subclavian via a faster than infraclavicular, both comparable rate.

Supraclavicular versus infraclavicular subclavian vein catheterization in infants.
BACKGROUND Central venous catheterization is an important procedure for infant patients for a number of different purposes, including nutritional support, surgical operation, hemodynamic monitoring, and multiple lines for critical care medications. Subclavian vein catheterization (SVC) is one of the central vein catheterization techniques. SVC can be performed from 4 different locations: right ...
متن کاملSupraclavicular Subclavian Vein Catheterization: The Forgotten Central Line
While the supraclavicular approach to the subclavian vein has been described since 1965, it is generally employed much less often than the "traditional" infraclavicular approach. Although randomized trials are lacking, the best evidence suggests that the supraclavicular approach has a number of important advantages to the infraclavicular approach. The landmarks and relative merits of the proced...

T he subclavian approach to central venous cannulation provides rapid access for fluid and blood administration, hemodynamic monitoring, pacemaker insertion, and placement of catheters for parenteral nutrition. This approach is also useful when peripheral intravenous sites are not available due to extensive burns or trauma, or simply are not present because of obesity or vein depletion from pri...
متن کاملUltrasound-Guided Subclavian Vein Cannulation in Neonate via Supraclavicular Approach
Central venous cannulation of infants may be challenging. Ultrasonography is recommended and has been found superior to classic landmark technique in pediatric central venous cannulation. The cannulation of the subclavian vein using supraclavicular approach under real-time ultrasound guidance is a novel technique. It may have advantages over ultrasound-guided jugular vein cannulation in specifi...

The safe and successful performance of a central venous catheterization (CVC) requires a specific knowledge of anatomy in addition to a working knowledge. Misunderstanding the anatomy may result in failure or complications. This review aims to aid understanding of the anatomical framework, pitfalls, and complications of CVC of the subclavian (SCV). CVC is common practice amongst surgeons, anest...
