Sub-TeV hadronic interaction model differences and their impact on air showers

چکیده
In the sub-TeV regime, most widely used hadronic interaction models disagree significant lying their predictions for post-first and ground-level particle spectra from cosmic ray induced air showers. These differences generate an important source of systematic uncertainty in experimental use. We investigate nature impact model uncertainties through a simultaneous analysis ground level particles first scenarios. focus on shower primaries with energies close to transition between high low energy models, where dissimilarities have been shown be largest well within range accelerator measurements. Interaction are diverge as several scenarios compared, reflecting intrinsic theoretical frameworks. Finally, we discuss importance interactions regime switching occurs (<1 TeV) effect choice number showers higher energies.

TeV Muons in Hadronic Showers
From the study of the multiple muon events in deep underground detectors, it is possible to extract information about the spectrum and composition of the primary cosmic rays. In this work the number of TeV muons produced by a primary cosmic ray of a given energy and zenith angle is computed using analytic and montecarlo methods, for a family of simplified models as description of the properties...
متن کاملHadronic interactions and extensive air showers
Understanding hadronic multiparticle production is important for deriving the composition and energy spectrum of primary cosmic rays from air shower measurements at high energy. In this article, predictions of hadronic interaction models are discussed, emphasizing uncertainties and constraints due to model assumptions and accelerator measurements. The sensitivity of shower observables to model ...

Using CORSIKA for simulating extensive air showers, we study the relation between the shower characteristics and features of hadronic multiparticle production at low energies. We report about investigations of typical energies and phase space regions of secondary particles which are important for muon production in extensive air showers. Possibilities to measure relevant quantities of hadron pr...

In models with large extra dimensions, particle collisions with center-of-mass energy larger than the fundamental gravitational scale can generate nonperturbative gravitational objects. Since cosmic rays have been observed with energies above 108 TeV, gravitational effects in the TeV energy range can, in principle, be observed by ultrahigh energy cosmic ray detectors. We consider the interactio...
متن کاملHadronic Interactions for High Energy Cosmic Ray Air Showers
Understanding hadronic interactions at high energies represents a very important ingredient for modeling high energy cosmic ray air showers. In this paper, we present a new approach to simulate hadronic interactions, including hadron-hadron, hadron-nucleus, and nucleus-nucleus scattering, in the energy range roughly between 10 11 and 10 17 eV. Such collisions are very complex, being composed of...
