چکیده
Introduction: Hepatitis caused by hepatitis B virus is potentially a fatal liver infection. It causes acute and chronicliver disease puts people at high risk of death from cirrhosis hepato-cellular carcinoma. The study theprevalence helps in establishing the magnitude problem.Aim: To estimate HbsAg sero-positivity among patient attending tertiary care centre.Materials Methods: Present was conducted department microbiology district hospital attachedto Kodagu institute medical sciences june 2019 to may 2021. A total 20,676 samples were tested for hepatitisB surface antigen using qualitative one step rapid immune chromatographic test kit. Details various sociodemographicvariables patients collected. results noted analyzed. Results: Total serum which 135 (0.65%) sero-positive HBsAg. Among135 sero-positive, 55 (0.26%) males 80(0.38%) female patients. age ranging 21-31 yearsshowed highest prevalence. 8.88% had HIV & HBV co-infection.Conclusion: highlights prevalence infection carecentre Kodagu. Apart knowing sero-prevalance, sex correlation, HIV;HBV co-infection alsoassessed, it found that higher young adults. Knowing leads betterunderstanding about particular geographical area importanceof control measures.
