Study on bubble-induced turbulence in pipes and containers with Reynolds-stress models

چکیده
Abstract Bubbly flow still represents a challenge for large-scale numerical simulation. Among many others, the understanding and modelling of bubble-induced turbulence (BIT) are far from being satisfactory even though continuous efforts have been made. In particular, buoyancy bubbles generally introduces anisotropy in flow, which cannot be captured by standard eddy viscosity models with specific source terms representing BIT. Recently, on basis bubble-resolving direct simulation data, new Reynolds-stress model considering BIT was developed Ma et al. ( J Fluid Mech , 883: A9 (2020)) within Euler—Euler framework. The objective present work is to assess this compare its performance other using systematic test strategy. We select experimental data BIT-dominated range find that leads major improvements prediction full components.

Laser Doppler Velocimetry (LDV) has been employed to determine pseudo-turbulence characteristics of the flow field around bubble train forming in non-Newtonian caboxymethylcellulose (CMC) aqueous solution at low gas flow rate condition. The Reynolds stress and turbulent intensity of the liquid were investigated by means of Reynolds time-averaged method. The experimental results show that ax...
متن کاملStudy of Parameters Affecting Separation Bubble Size in High Speed Flows using k-ω Turbulence Model
Shock waves generated at different parts of vehicle interact with the boundary layer over the surface at high Mach flows. The adverse pressure gradient across strong shock wave causes the flow to separate and peak loads are generated at separation and reattachment points. The size of separation bubble in the shock boundary layer interaction flows depends on various parameters. Reynolds-averaged...

متن کاملReynolds-Stress Enhancement Associated with a Short Fetch of Roughness in Wall Turbulence
Particle-image velocimetry experiments are performed to study the response of smooth-wall turbulent channel flow to a short fetch of roughness (10 outer length scales long). The roughness studied herein is replicated from a surface scan of a damaged turbine blade and contains both largeand small-scale surface defects attributable to pitting, deposition, and spallation. Quadrant analysis is used...
