Study of fluid displacement in three-dimensional porous media with an improved multicomponent pseudopotential lattice Boltzmann method

We generalize a recently developed improved multicomponent pseudopotential lattice Boltzmann method in three dimensions and analyze its applicability to simulate flows through realistic porous media. The model is validated characterized via benchmarks, we investigate performance by simulating the displacement of immiscible fluids three-dimensional geometries. Two samples are considered, namely, pack spheres obtained numerically Bentheimer sandstone rock sample experimentally. show that with this model, it possible viscosity ratios, tune surface tension independently, and, most importantly, preserve volume trapped fluid. also evaluate computational on graphical processing unit mention implemented optimizations increase speed reduce memory requirements.
