Study of clinical and biochemical profile of scrub typhus in a tertiary care hospital of West Bengal

Background: Humans are accidental hosts in the zoonotic disease Scrub typhus. The though widespread our county, it remains grossly underdiagnosed because of its non-septic clinical manifestations and lack access to specific laboratory facilities. Aims Objectives: objective present study is evaluate presentations Typhus among group. Furthermore, assess various findings cases group other this study. Materials Methods: an Institution-based, observational, cross-sectional conducted for 18 months with admitted patients having 14–70 years age. Data collected regarding patients’ demographic profile, symptoms, findings, laboratory, radiological findings. had been summarized as mean standard deviation numerical variables count percentages categorical variables. Results: In study, we found that most were 14–20 old female population was higher. It 34.3% Eschar, 42.9% Rash, 91.4% Pallor, 8.6% Ascites, 25.7% Edema, Jaundice, 11.4% shock, 57.1% pneumonia/pneumonitis. showed 65.7% drug response (Doxycycline). Conclusion: Knowledge geographical distribution, evidence exposure vector, features such fever, rash, eschar, headache, myalgia along high index suspicion crucial factors early diagnosis helps timely treatment cases.
