Students’ Interests, Purposes, and Attitudes towards Learning French at the Malaysia Public Higher Education Institutions

The teaching of French as a foreign language (FFL) has been introduced in the Malaysian education system since 1930s. In accordance with government's globalization policy, FFL teaching, and learning are now expanding this nation including at Institute Higher Education (IPTA). present study aimed to determine how interested enthusiastic respective IPTA students were French. quantitative involves 329 from twelve IPTAs: UITM, UKM, UPM, UPNM, UMK, USM, UM, USIM, UTM, UPSI, UUM, UMT. results found that 91.8% respondents had strong interest language. While their attitude toward is average. To accomplish objectives, interests, attitudes must coincide. Consequently, self-learning activities such reading newspapers, accessing internet, communicating need be improved.
