Student approaches to creative processes when participating in an open-ended project in science

This study examines how students in primary school (grades five and six) displayed creative thinking while working on an open-ended science project, they included knowledge during the process. The findings show that approached process six different ways: (1) by adaptation, (2) transfer, (3) synthesis, (4) originality, (5) practicality, (6) need. Students were able to make use of from domain adapting throughout Transfer other domains, synthesis types ideas knowledge, originality mostly used exploratory phase. Evaluating based their value according contextual factors project was also approach’s practicality There evidence suggest some showed signs higher order evaluative thinking, way combine associations between, often remote new ways related level experience. result shows education can focus nurturing creativity without minimising subject
