Isolation of Herpetosiphon giganteus and Ultrastructure Analysis by Electron Microscopy
Herpetosiphon giganteus is a filamentous gliding bacterium. Gliding motility is the movement of the cells over surfaces without the aid of flagella. The mechanism responsible for bacterial gliding motility has not been known and there are only a few data on Herpetosiphon giganteus. The aim of this study was to observe the ultrastructure and negative staining of isolated strains of Herpetosiphon...
متن کاملMorphological and histochemical investigation of the camel (Camelus dromedarius) abomasal mucous membrane by light and scanning electron microscopy (SEM)
Morphological and histochemical study of the abomasal epithelium in camel (Camelus dromedarius) wascarried out by light and scanning electron microscopes. The lining of the abomasum was divided into fourregions, i.e. cardiac, pseudocardiac, fundic and pyloric. Our investigation revealed that the cardiac andpseudocardiac regions occupy a wide part of the abomasum in camel and it reaches approxim...
متن کاملQuasielastic light scattering in silicon
A dominant, broad central mode in the Brillouin spectrum of silicon was first reported by Sandercock in 1978. This feature was later ascribed to a two-phonon difference scattering process. However, the issue of quasielastic scattering in silicon has remained a major outstanding problem in Brillouin scattering, because similar central modes in other materials have commonly displayed two componen...
متن کاملPhalloidin-induced proliferation of actin filaments within rat hepatocytes. Visualisation by electron microscopy and immunofluorescence.
Confirming our previous ultrastructural and biochemical studies, the combined electron microscopy and immunofluorescence investigations show that phalloidin causes a characteristically striking increase of actin filaments within rat hepatocytes. Filaments are localized mainly at the level of special junctional complexes between contiguous cells and around bile canaliculi.
