Structure and Bonding in CsNa2Hg18, a New Ternary Amalgam with Strong Coulombic Bonding Contributions

نویسندگان

چکیده

The new ternary amalgam CsNa2Hg18 was synthesised from the elements in an unconventional low-temperature procedure. It crystallises a tetragonal structure type (space group I4/mmm, = 7.3054(7) and c 20.046 Å) combines ionic metallic bonding contributions. In crystal structure, Cs Na atoms are embedded Hg scaffold with highly covalent Hg–Hg bonding. alkali metal coordinated exclusively by unusual environments coordination numbers CN 24 for 16 Na. Polar amalgams suitable model systems studying parameters influencing ’bad behaviour’ polar intermetallic phases. We present structural studies on basis of powder single diffraction data together measurements specific resistivity DFT calculations electronic structure. For CsNa2Hg18, high can be observed, but Ioffe–Regel saturation is expressed much less than other amalgams.

Determination of Microleakage in CL V Amalgam Restoration Lined with and Without Varnish and Dentin Bonding Agents

The purpose of this study is to assess the microleakage in CL V Amalgam restoration lined with and without varnishes and dentine bonding agents. In this study, two varishes (Kimia and Copalite) and two dentin bonding agents (Syntac and Excite) were used. 70 fresh human premolars were selected for this study. These samples were randomly divided to five groups (four group of 15 teeth and one grou...

Structure and Bonding

A molecule is formed by the combination of atoms and in the process they attain the electronic configuration of an inert gas. A chemical bond is formed as a result of attraction between the combining atoms. To explain the formation of bonds in diatomic molecules, such as H2, O2, N2, Cl2 etc., it was first suggested by G.N. Lewis that atoms of such molecules attain an inert gas electronic config...

Molecular Structure & Bonding

The three dimensional shape or configuration of a molecule is an important characteristic. This shape is dependent on the preferred spatial orientation of covalent bonds to atoms having two or more bonding partners. Three dimensional configurations are best viewed with the aid of models. In order to represent such configurations on a two-dimensional surface (paper, blackboard or screen), we oft...

Bonding in the BaPdSn3 Structure

The body-centered BaPdSn3 structure contains Sn atoms in tetrahedral and square-pyramidal five-coordinate sites, and Pd in square-pyramidal environments. The PdSn32three-dimensional lattice can be formally decom posed into first two-dimensional layers, then into a square Sn lattice with capping Sn and Pd atoms. This geometrical decom position also serves as a construction principle for building...

Radon hydrides: structure and bonding.

Quantum chemical calculations, using gradient-correct density functional at the BP86 level in conjunction with TZ2P basis sets, have been carried out for the radon hydrides HRnY (with Y = F, Cl, Br, I, CCH, CN, and NC). The bonding in HRnY is studied using different bond ruptures, establishing the role of those stabilizing (and destabilizing) factors that prevent these species to be dissociated...
