Structural studies on synthetic A2?x[M2(TeO3)3]·nH2O phases (A = Na, K, Rb, Cs; M = Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn) with zemannite-type structures

Abstract During a systematic study on formation conditions of new compounds with zemannite-type structures, crystals ten oxidotellurate(IV) phases were grown under hydrothermal conditions, partially by employing drastic reduction the water content. The crystal structures obtained determined single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Na 2 [Ni (TeO 3 ) ]·2.5H O, K ]·H [Zn ]·2H Rb 1.25 [Co ]·1.5H O and 1.24 [Mn exhibit unit-cell hexagonal symmetry ( Z = 2, ? 9.3 Å, c 7.7 Å), in which most other structure are known to crystallize. Relative this unit-cell, [Cu exhibits twofold superstructure, superstructure an additional incommensurate modulation, threefold 1.5 ]·1.25H Cs[Mn fourfold superstructure. Disorder alkali metal cations molecules channels as well variable contents complicate modelling refinement.
