Structural Health Monitoring of Large Structures via mmWave Sensing

Abstract Vibration and deformation measurement are of great significance for structural health monitoring (SHM). While the existing accelerometer, laser vision-based approaches have limitations in multi-point vibration measurement, efficiency environmental adaptability, especially large structures. In this paper, we present a method with via millimetre- wave sensing. First, describe mathematical model principle multi-target synchronous monitoring. Second, built prototype mmWave sensing system, evaluate our both laboratory field tests. The experimental results different amplitudes, frequencies velocities show that approach can accurately monitor μm-level accuracy. test Shanghai Songpu Bridge is provided to further validate effectiveness method, offering novel contactless structures SHM.
