String Stable and Collision-Safe Model Predictive Platoon Control

چکیده

Automated vehicle platooning bears high potential to increase traffic efficiency, improve road safety, and reduce fuel consumption. To realize platoons with small inter-vehicle distances, collision safety is the most crucial concern needs be considered carefully. Moreover, it desired attenuate disturbances along platoon which known as string stability. While model predictive control concepts achieve efficient, situation-aware, safe platooning, establishing stability properties difficult. In this work characterized for a generic feedback setting. A workflow design an extended time gap spacing policy proposed safety-extended distributed controller. It provides safe, tightly-packed operation robust near steady-state even without vehicle-to-vehicle- V2V-communication. Platoon performance further improved by exploiting Finally, resulting closed-loop dynamics are validated in high-fidelity co-simulation study.

AHS safe control laws for platoon leaders

The AHS architecture of the California PATH program organizes traffic into platoons of closely spaced vehicles. A large relative motion between platoons can increase the risk of high relative velocity collisions. This is particularly true whenever platoons are formed or broken up by the join and split control maneuvers and by the decelerate to change lane control maneuver, which allows a platoo...

Provably Safe and Robust Learning-Based Model Predictive Control

Controller design faces a trade-off between robustness and performance, and the reliability of linear controllers has caused many practitioners to focus on the former. However, there is renewed interest in improving system performance to deal with growing energy constraints. This paper describes a learning-based model predictive control (LBMPC) scheme that provides deterministic guarantees on r...

Ship Collision Avoidance Using Scenario-Based Model Predictive Control ?

A set of alternative collision avoidance control behaviors are parameterized by two parameters: Offsets to the guidance course angle commanded to the autopilot, and changes to the propulsion command ranging from nominal speed to full reverse. Using predictions of the trajectories of the obstacles and ship, the compliance with the COLREGS rules and collision hazards associated with the alternati...

Model predictive control approach to global air collision avoidance

Purpose – Most of the existing approaches for flight collision avoidance are concerned with local traffic alone for which the separation is based on the pairwise analysis of aircraft trajectory trends, which is not efficient with regard to some flight path requirements along waypoints. The purpose of this paper is to deal with the global collision avoidance problem which aims at separating airc...

Safe end-to-end imitation learning for model predictive control

We propose the use of Bayesian networks, which provide both a mean value and an uncertainty estimate as output, to enhance the safety of learned control policies under circumstances in which a test-time input differs significantly from the training set. Our algorithm combines reinforcement learning and end-to-end imitation learning to simultaneously learn a control policy as well as a threshold...
