Stress survival islets contribute to clonal and serotype-specific differences in L. monocytogenes

چکیده
Abstract Listeria monocytogenes is an important opportunistic foodborne pathogen causing listeriosis, often fatal infection leading to meningitis, sepsis, or of the fetus and abortion in susceptible individuals. Diverse ready-to-eat food (RTE) like dairy, meat, fish, vegetables, complex foods are linked with listeriosis outbreaks. L. capable surviving stressful environmental conditions grow refrigerated foods. Regarding stress-related genes, SSI-1 contributes survival cells under suboptimal conditions, such as high salt content acidic environment. At same time, SSI-2 responsible for persistence alkaline oxidative stresses.

Differences in antioxidant, morphological and biochemical responses to drought stress in different cultivars of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.)
Drought stress is the most common environmental stress that can significantly influence crop productivity. In this study, morphological and biochemical properties of 17 genotypes of common bean were evaluated under different levels of drought stress and the most sensitive and tolerant genotypes were identified using multivariate analysis. The results indicated that morphological and biochemical...

Object recognition is a fundamental function of the auditory system, but the underlying mechanisms are not well understood. Acoustic communication in the Tettigoniid genus Neoconocephalus provides a useful system for studying these mechanisms. We examined the ascending interneuron pathway in three Neoconocephalus species with diverse calls and recognition mechanisms. This pathway processes spec...
متن کاملSerotype-specific Binding Properties and Nanoparticle Characteristics Contribute to the Immunogenicity of rAAV1 Vectors
The immunogenic properties of recombinant adeno-associated virus (rAAV) gene transfer vectors remain incompletely characterized in spite of their usage as gene therapy vectors or as vaccines. Molecular interactions between rAAV and various types of antigen-presenting cells (APCs), as well as the impact of these interactions on transgene or capsid-specific immunization remain unclear. We herein ...
متن کاملAge-Dependent Differences in Systemic and Cell-Autonomous Immunity to L. monocytogenes
Host defense against infection can broadly be categorized into systemic immunity and cell-autonomous immunity. Systemic immunity is crucial for all multicellular organisms, increasing in importance with increasing cellular complexity of the host. The systemic immune response to Listeria monocytogenes has been studied extensively in murine models; however, the clinical applicability of these fin...
متن کاملIncreased expression of antioxidant and antiapoptotic genes in islets that may contribute to beta-cell survival during chronic hyperglycemia.
Hypertrophy is one mechanism of pancreatic beta-cell growth and is seen as an important compensatory response to insulin resistance. We hypothesized that the induction of protective genes contributes to the survival of enlarged (hypertrophied) beta-cells. Here, we evaluated changes in stress gene expression that accompany beta-cell hypertrophy in islets from hyperglycemic rats 4 weeks after par...
