چکیده
Abstract Smallholder agriculture in Sub-Saharan Africa is largely exposed to pervasive market failures, translating into missed opportunities and sub-optimal economic behavior. These failures can partly be traced the importance of economies scale procuring inputs marketing produce, where smallholders face disproportionately high transaction costs. Producer organizations could help lessen costs; however, only a few farmers Uganda sell through them. We introduce two interventions aimed at promoting via producer organizations: cash on delivery, information sales, analyze their impacts an RCT design: find that providing delivery increases probability member chooses group, hence volumes bulked by each group. This increase appears have enabled groups secure higher prices for produce. No significant effect found sales.
