Streamflow Trends in Central Chile

چکیده
The availability of water in Chile has shown signs decline recent decades. This is problematic because Chile’s economy depends on mining, forestry, and agricultural activities, all limited by the resources. In this study, daily, monthly annual flows 31 basins located arid–semiarid zones (29°12′ S–33°58′ S) humid–subhumid (34°43′ S–38°30′ were evaluated using Mann–Kendall trend test quantile–Kendall procedure during three periods: 1984–2021 (31 stations), 1975–2021 (20 1969–2021 (18 stations). Results showed that, at level, trends predominantly negative both climatic over periods analyzed. zone, a higher frequency significant was found maximum 1975–2021, compared to last period under study. zone series At other hand, arid-semiarid decrease as number years analyzed increased, for flow types. did not indicate similar defined pattern. Consequently, it concluded that are generally negative, their statistical significance studied.

• Baseflow: Baseflow is the water in a stream that is not directly associated with a specific precipitation events (i.e., event runoff). It is usually comprised of groundwater flow and slower shallow subsurface flow components including soil water drainage. • Drainage area/catchment/watershed: A watershed is the geographic area that contributes water to the same single point in a river or strea...
متن کاملIntertidal Biodiversity in Central Chile
Along the coast of central Chile, geographic trends of diversity have been inferred from literature compilations and museum collections based on species range limits for some taxonomic groups. However, spatially-intensive fieldbased assessments of macrobenthic species richness are largely missing. Over the course of a multiyear study (1998-2005), we characterized latitudinal patterns of rocky i...

The aim of this study was to describe homicide mortality trends in Chile between 2000 and 2012 by year, gender, age group, geographic distribution (by zone and by region) and type of homicide. METHODS This was a population-based study. Data for hom...
