Straw Biochar-Facilitated Methanogenesis from Acetic Acid and Ethanol: Correlation with Electron Exchange Capacity

چکیده
Straw biochar prepared by three methods (i.e., pyrochar, HNO3-modified and hydrochar) was added to the anaerobic digestion system with acetic acid ethanol as substrates explore effects of on methane production, substrate degradation, microbial community structure. The biogas yields biochar-supplemented groups all increased, maximum yield found in hydrochar group, which 45.4% higher than control. In ethanol-fed reactor, partial pressure hydrogen headspace reactor reduced from 3.5% (blank reactor) 1.9%. Overall, production is directly proportional electron exchange capacity (EEC) value biochar. Furthermore, bio-aging process increased EEC each kind 5.5–8.1%, favorable for sustainable promotion methanogenesis. bio-aged could either be attributable changes surface oxygen-containing functional or selectively enriched biochar, such Geobacter, participate direct interspecies transfer.

Process design of SSCF for ethanol production from steam-pretreated, acetic-acid-impregnated wheat straw
BACKGROUND Pretreatment is an important step in the production of ethanol from lignocellulosic material. Using acetic acid together with steam pretreatment allows the positive effects of an acid catalyst to be retained, while avoiding the negative environmental effects associated with sulphuric acid. Acetic acid is also formed during the pretreatment and hydrolysis of hemicellulose, and is a kn...
متن کاملAcetic Acid Production from Ethanol by Fluorescent Pseudomonads.
Apart from the observation by Alsberg (1911) that gluconic acid is produced from glucose by Phytomonas savastanoi, the oxidative metabolism of fluorescent pseudomonads has received little attention until very recently. For the most part it has been tacitly assumed that these org Ims, by virtue of their obligately aerobic nature, carry out a complete mineralization of organic substrates (den Doo...
متن کاملUtilization of ethanol by acetic acid bacteria.
It is well known that the acetic acid bacteria can rapidly oxidize ethanol to acetic acid. But whether ethanol can serve as a source of carbon and energy for these bacteria has not been clearly established. Pasteur (1868) noted that Mycoderma aceti which is undoubtedly Acetobacter aceti (Frateur, 1950) can grow well in ethanol media only if acetic acid is also present. Addition of one or two pe...
متن کاملCorrelation between urinary 2-methoxy acetic acid and exposure of 2-methoxy ethanol.
OBJECTIVES To examine the correlation between airborne 2-methoxy ethanol (ME) exposures and the urinary 2-methoxy acetic acid (MAA) and to recommend a biological exposure index (BEI) for ME. METHODS 8 Hour time weighted average (TWA) personal breathing zone samples and urine samples before and after the shift were collected from Monday to Saturday for 27 workers exposed to ME and on Friday fo...
متن کاملThe electron donating capacity of biochar is dramatically underestimated
Biochars have gathered considerable interest for agronomic and engineering applications. In addition to their high sorption ability, biochars have been shown to accept or donate considerable amounts of electrons to/from their environment via abiotic or microbial processes. Here, we measured the electron accepting (EAC) and electron donating (EDC) capacities of wood-based biochars pyrolyzed at t...
