چکیده
Abstract The Paleocene-Lower Eocene N'kapa Formation has long been considered as an important groundwater and hydrocarbon resource in the eastern edge of Douala Basin. present study’s aim is to establish a possible link between geological nature this formation quality potential aquifers using Gamma Ray well log, cuttings outcrops through sedimentology sequence stratigraphy studies. results obtained from study show that: lithofacies are dominated by clays, silts sands/sandstones; gamma ray electrofacies funnel-shaped cylindrical-shaped with some bell-shaped; depositional environments continental shallow marine fluvial sometimes tidal processes; channel-fill, channel-fill delta front bars sands aquifers; analysis reveals two transgressive–regressive cycles second order (Danian Selandian Thanetian Ypresian), Highstand System Tracts, one Transgressive Tract Lowstand Tract; high-resolution geometry these sandy/sandstone sedimentary bodies shows that their distribution linked hydrodynamic factors topography environment. A total types lithological facies reservoir levels were defined according volume clay: clean sandstone (0–15%) low clayey (15–30%). log correlation thickness variable clay content (V sh %) increases NE SW. As result, best appear correspond deposited during base-level fall Upper Paleocene age (Lower Thanetian).

In this research, biostratigraphy related to the carbonate succession of the Shahbazan Formation at the southeastern flank of Chenar anticline, Lurestan Basin, is discussed. A study of large benthic foraminifera from the 294 mthick Shahbazan Formation led to the identification of two Middle Eocene biozones: Somalina sp. Zone, Nummulites-Alveolina Assemblage Zone. The age of the Shahbazan Format...

Paleocene and Lower Eocene deposits in SW Iran are known as Pabdeh formation.Pabdeh formation is one of the most important lithostratigraphy unit as source rock has been deposited in Zagros basin over an extremely long period in time. The area under research is the Ghachsaran 55 subsurface Section located from the Ghachsaran oil field in Dezful embeyment in zagros fold zone. The Lower boundry...
متن کاملA comparison of terpenoid and leaf fossil vegetation proxies in Paleocene and Eocene Bighorn Basin sediments
Plant-derived terpenoids, long recognized as biomarkers, can help reveal the major taxonomic groups of land plants present in ancient environments, even if rocks and sediments do not preserve plant macroor microfossils. Previous studies have used simple dito triterpenoid ratios to reconstruct floral changes in the geologic past, but few have compared terpenoid ratios with estimates of floral co...
