Strategies Subtitlers Use in Rendering English Slang Expressions Into Arabic

Film translation has become a worldwide field in which subtitlers translate and transfer language style from one culture into another. Subtitling always been affected by cultural elements. The purpose of this study was to find out how professional differ fansubbers when dealing with such expressions concerning the strategies that both groups use subtitle these expressions. To achieve goals study, researchers identified 120 slang two American movies, Goodfellas Training Day, but chose only 30 report on they were rendered groups. Results showed subtitler faced many challenges used varying subtitling related presence some terms different types slangs are unfamiliar most subtitlers. frequent paraphrase, euphemism, omission, calque. recommends further studies be conducted larger sample or British movies TV series. In addition, can investigated other target cultures languages as Spanish, Persian, Turkish, Greek, Kurdish.
