Strategies of Design Concepts and Energy Systems for Nearly Zero-Energy Container Buildings (NZECBs) in Different Climates

Container-based lightweight buildings offer a high ecologic and economic potential when they are designed as nearly zero-energy container (NZECBs). Thus, relevant to energy transition in achieving an almost climate-neutral building stock. This paper describes applies design strategies for suitable concepts systems be used NZECBs different climates. Therefore, applications representative climatic zones were selected. Initially, the global climate characterized analyzed with regard their self-sufficiency renewable energies buildings. The further developed demonstrated three cases: single-family house Sweden, multi-family Germany, small school rural Ethiopia. For each case, guidelines derived developed. On basis of these input data, various which solar wind energy, well biomass, integrated sources. All simulated Polysun® software. approaches compared evaluated, particularly self-sufficiency. Self-sufficiency rates up 80% achieved. Finally, influence on efficiency was studied size battery storage insulation.
