How strange a non-strange heavy baryon?
We give some general arguments in favor of the large magnitude of matrix elements of an operator associated with nonvalence quarks in heavy hadrons. We estimate matrix element 1 2mΛb 〈Λb|s̄s|Λb〉 ≃ 1 ÷ 2 for Λb baryon whose valence content is b, u, d quarks. This magnitude corresponds to a noticeable contribution of the strange quark into the heavy baryon mass 1 2mΛb 〈Λb|mss̄s|Λb〉 ≃ 200 ÷ 300MeV ....
متن کاملOncogenic osteomalacia: strange tumours in strange places.
Two patients presented with hypophosphataemic osteomalacia and were subsequently found to have small tumours unusual histopathology and location causing the osteomalacia. Each tumour was found after an intensive search for occult masses. Studies of vitamin D metabolism and renal tubular function before and after surgery yielded further insight into the pathophysiology of oncogenic osteomalacia....
متن کاملCarrion flowers
In this Quick Guide, Johnson introduces the reader to carrion flowers, which evolved to mimic rotting flesh. This adaptation attracts insects that facilitate pollination.

'The great appear great, because we are on our knees. Let us rise!,' wrote Larkin. Jean Faugier ( 1 ) described the 'tall poppy syndrome' and spoke of 'bold, nonconformist', brightly- coloured flowers being chopped down mercilessly by farmers just because they were different and stood above the rest in the wheatfields.

Suicide is a serious social and health problem in Korea [1]. According to a 2005 report by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development [2], Korea had the highest suicide rate with nearly 30 deaths per 100,000 population. Many studies have found that suicidal ideation and attempts among lesbians, gay men, and bisexual persons are higher than among heterosexual individuals (or gener...
