Storying endometriosis: Examining relationships between narrative identity, mental health, and pain

We examined whether narratives related to mental health and pain in 120 women with endometriosis. Participants wrote about endometriosis, rated the on centrality identity positive negative self-change, completed measures of depressive symptoms, life-satisfaction, intensity symptoms. Narratives were content-coded for themes agency communion. Higher identity, more lower communion poorer health. was associated Narrative predicted beyond intensity, neuroticism. The results indicate that how endometriosis narrate their illness is connected
