Stochastic models of ventilation driven by opposing wind and buoyancy

چکیده
Stochastic versions of a classical model for natural ventilation are proposed and investigated to demonstrate the effect random fluctuations on stability predictability. In stochastic context, well-known deterministic result that driven by competing effects buoyancy wind admits multiple steady states can be misleading. With in exchanged with an external environment modelled as Wiener process, such systems tend reside vicinity global minima their potential, rather than associated metastable equilibria. For heated space leeward low-level windward high-level opening, sustained buoyancy-driven flow opposing direction is unlikely strengths exceeding statistically critical value, which slightly larger value strength at bifurcation system occurs. When applied Ornstein–Uhlenbeck topology system’s potential effectively modified due nonlinear role has equation conservation. Consequently, large sufficient duration rule out possibility base strengths.

Cfd Modelling of Buoyancy-driven Natural Ventilation Opposed by Wind
This paper presents CFD simulations of natural displacement ventilation airflows in which the buoyancy force produced by a heat source is opposed by a wind force. Cases investigated focus on windbuoyancy force relationships for which a two-layer stratification is maintained. CFD predictions of the position of the interface separating the two layers and the change in reduced gravity (temperature...
متن کاملThe fluid mechanics of natural ventilation-displacement ventilation by buoyancy-driven flows assisted by wind
This paper describes the fluid mechanics of natural ventilation by the combined effects of buoyancy and wind. Attention is restricted to transient draining flows in a space containing buoyant fluid, when the wind and buoyancy forces reinforce one another. The flows have been studied theoretically and the results compared with small-scale laboratory experiments. Connections between the enclosure...
متن کاملAnalysis of Buoyancy-Driven Ventilation of Hydrogen from Buildings: Preprint
When hydrogen gas is used or stored within a building, as with a hydrogen-powered vehicle parked in a residential garage, any leakage of unignited H2 will mix with indoor air and may form a flammable mixture. One approach to safety engineering relies on buoyancy-driven, passive ventilation of H2 from the building through vents to the outside. To discover relationships between design variables, ...
متن کاملBuoyancy and Wind-Driven Convection at Mixed Layer Density Fronts
In this study, the influence of a geostrophically balanced horizontal density gradient on turbulent convection in the ocean is examined using numerical simulations and a theoretical scaling analysis. Starting with uniform horizontal and vertical buoyancy gradients, convection is driven by imposing a heat loss or a destabilizing wind stress at the upper boundary, and a turbulent layer soon devel...
