Stochastic Activity Networks Templates: Supporting Variability in Performability Models

چکیده
Model-based evaluation is extensively used to estimate the performance and reliability of dependable systems. Traditionally, these systems were small self-contained, main challenge for model-based has been efficiency solution process. Recently, problem specifying maintaining complex models increasingly gained attention, as modern are characterized by many components interactions. Components share similarities, but at same time, also exhibit variations in their behavior due different configurations or roles system. From modeling perspective, lead replicating altering a set base multiple times. Variability taken into account only informally, defining sample model explaining its possible variations. In this article, we address including variability performability models, focusing on stochastic activity networks (SANs). We introduce formal definition templates (SAN-T), formalism based SANs with addition aspects. Differently from other approaches, parameters can affect structure model, like number cases activities. apply SAN-T backbone network an environmental monitoring infrastructure. particular, show how existing SAN literature be generalized using newly introduced formalism.

Compositional Reduction of Performability Models based on Stochastic Process Algebras
Stochastic Process Algebras (SPA) have been proposed as compositional specification formalisms for quantitative models. Here we apply these compositional features to SPAs extended by rewards. State space reduction of performability models can be achieved based on the behaviour-preserving notion of Markov Reward Bisimulation. For a framework extended by immediate actions we develop a new equival...
متن کاملModel Checking Functional and Performability Properties of Stochastic Fluid Models
Model checking of stochastic processes has been introduced to verify functional as well as performability properties of formally specified systems. In this paper, model checking for a wide class of stochastic fluid models (SFMs) is considered. We present a branching time temporal logic, which is similar to the continuous stochastic logic (CSL), for expressing real-time probabilistic properties ...
متن کاملHierarchical Stochastic Activity Networks
Stochastic activity networks (SANs) are a powerful and flexible extension of Petri nets. These models can be used for the modeling and analysis of various kinds and different aspects of distributed real-time systems. Similar to other classical extensions of Petri nets, SANs have some limitations for modeling complex and largescale systems. In order to remove these limitations and provide some h...
متن کاملGenerating Services Supporting Variability from Configurable Process Models
Today, a PAIS (Process-Aware Information System) is the broadly adopted information system by enterprises, which aims to define how to use services and business processes to achieve the business goals of enterprises. For this purpose, research work in PAIS was interested in aligning business processes and services in order to achieve a good connection between business process models as represen...
متن کاملQuantifying Intrinsic and Extrinsic Variability in Stochastic Gene Expression Models
Genetically identical cell populations exhibit considerable intercellular variation in the level of a given protein or mRNA. Both intrinsic and extrinsic sources of noise drive this variability in gene expression. More specifically, extrinsic noise is the expression variability that arises from cell-to-cell differences in cell-specific factors such as enzyme levels, cell size and cell cycle sta...
